Preserving a Memory - Selecting a Monument

For many, the hardest part of the funeral journey is what some see as the final, lasting tribute for their loved one: selecting the monument. The information included here is a very simple starting point; there is a lot to consider and since this is one decision to be "set in stone," we recommend that you take your time and ask plenty of questions.

What to consider

We sometimes say that the best way to shop for a monument is to visit a cemetery. It sounds strange, but it is a good place to see the wide range of sizes, shapes and colors available, and to get some ideas of personalization. Some things to consider: How large the marker will be? Will be for one person or two, or an entire family stone? Should it be flush with the ground, or upright? Because granite is a precious stone, the larger the monument, the more expensive it will be.

There are many different types of granite colors and they too vary in price. These images are some of the most popular but there are many other choices we could show you. The least expensive are Light Gray and Mahogany; more expensive are Black and Blue Pearl.
